Why should we learn about the devil or Satan? The Bible tells us not to be ignorant of Satan's devices. To be ignorant of something means not to know anything about it. If we know about Satan's devises or plans, then he cannot take advantage of us (2 Corinthians 2:11). This is good news!
|Sometimes it is very important to know about something, than not to know about it.||For example, just say you are walking home in the dark, and there is a huge hole that you could fall in and hurt yourself and be unable to get out of it until someone finds you. If this would happen, it would be very scary to be hurt and alone in the dark. If you knew about this hole, you would either go home another way, or go far out around it, so there would not be any chance that you could possibly fall in. To know certain things about Satan is sort of the same way.|
If we do not think Satan exists, or do not know anything about
him, he could hurt us, and we would not even realize that it
is him. If we do know about the personally of Satan and how he
deceives people, we will have our guard up or our armor on so
that none of his fiery darts will be able to harm us, and it
will be much harder for him to trick or deceive us.
teaches us that back somewhere near the beginning of time, the
devil was once named Lucifer. Lucifer was created by God, and
was once a perfect and beautiful cherub or angel (Ezekiel 28:14-15).
But Lucifer's heart became filled with pride because of his beauty
(Ezekiel 28:17) and he became rebellious (disobedient) against
God. He believed he could be like God the most High (Isaiah 14:13-15).
God then cast Lucifer out of heaven because of his sin (Isaiah
14:12; Ezekiel 28:15-19). The word "pride" is when someone
lifts himself up above others and is proud of himself and then
becomes disobedient against God.
Important Point: No one can be God.
|Even though Satan may try to do evil things to you, God is much more powerful! If you are a child of God, you do not have to fear the devil, because you are protected by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.|
|God is on your side! Romans 8:31 says; "If God be for us, who can be against us?"|
|As Christians, we must obey God's word. The Bible teaches us in James 4:7; "Submit yourselves therefore to God". Submit means to obey God. The verse continues; "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". Resist means to be against. We must not follow after anything we know that is of the devil. The last part of the verse is really awesome; "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." Just think, the creator of the whole universe will draw near to you when you draw near to Him!
