"In
whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,
who is the image of God, should shine unto them" (2 Cor
4:4). |
In this
verse Satan is called the god of this world. Notice how the god
is spelled with a small "g".
Satan is not the true God, but is called
the god of this world because most people are under his control.
Those who do not believe in the gospel are under Satan power.
Satan is called the ruler of the darkness of this world. He is
behind all the sin and evil that goes on in this world. His goal
is to keep as many men, women, boys and girls under his control
so they will not understand what the gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ really is.
|
God
is always shining the light of the gospel into a person's heart,
but Satan who is a deceiver tries to put barriers in the way
so the person will not understand or receive the gospel and be
saved. |
|
Satan blinds a persons
mind with methods that we will be studying throughout this book,
and you will begin to understand that there is a real spiritual
battle going on. Satan
will become anything to lead a person away from God.
Have you ever
been blindfolded? When a person can not see, they are helpless
and unable to find their way. In the same way Satan blinds the
minds of people who do not know God and tries to keep them from
truly knowing God. Satan does not want anyone to be saved. |

This is
an on-going battle between the kingdom of light and the kingdom
of darkness. The battle is for the souls of every person. |
