Having this prayer recorded in the Bible so we can read it is a great advantage to all believers. Just think, we are reading the words that Jesus Christ actually prayed to His Father right before He would give His life so the world could be forgiven of sin.
Jesus prayed for Himself, for His disciples, and for all future believers (that includes you and me, if your a believer)!
When you read and study what Jesus actually prayed for His disciples and for all believers it is very exciting. He prayed for safety, sanctification (believers to live a pure and holy life set apart for God), believers to live in harmony with one another, happiness and future glory with Himself!
